Our teachers know their students and work with them to help them realise their potential as learners. Our focus on authentic learning and authentic assessment ensures that we challenge our students to grow in their learning and achieve their personal best.
Throughout our community of Sydney Catholic schools, we have shown high performance of our students in measures such as NAPLAN and the HSC.
At McAuley Catholic Primary School Rose Bay, our students are challenged daily in their learning through rich and rigorous learning experiences. Our students are well known to us and are catered for individually in all aspects. Our achievements in NAPLAN and other external testing is testament to the outstanding differentiated programs provisioned at McAuley.
At McAuley assessment is seen as a critical aspect of learning and a key tool in challenging students and measuring their success. It is an important and integral part of teaching and learning and is therefore regarded as crucial to inform teaching and learning programs. Our assessments include βrunning recordsβ for reading, Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) for Maths, Science English, Spelling, Grammar, writing analysis, South Australian Spelling, TORCH Reading Comprehension Tests, Burt Word Reading Test and NAPLAN results.
We identify gifted and talented students through tests such as CoGAT, Slosson Intelligence Test and Ravenβs Progressive Matrices, as well as parent/teacher/student nominations. We provision for differentiated learning individualised learning goals and engage in creative problem-solving, projects and enrichment activities.
Students demonstrating successful learning growth and dedicated application are acknowledged and celebrated through our weekly assembly awards.
