We value positive relationships with parents and carers to help develop better social and emotional skills in children. We know that when children are engaged with their learning, they attend school more regularly, leading to better long term outcomes.
For parenting and counselling services, visit the Family Support page, and for direction and clarity on regulations, processes and procedures at our school, read the Sydney Catholic School policies.
At McAuley Catholic Primary School Rose Bay, we recognise the importance and value the role parents/carers have in the education of their child and the life of a school. We work together to strengthen relationships between family, school, parish and the wider community to benefit the development of the children in our care. We welcome and value parent contribution to our school.
Communication with our families
Communication with our parent community is paramount and we keep our parents updated through a variety of avenues. We communicate via the Compass app, through which our parents receive regular updates regarding school events, student learning, class information, parent information sessions, school reports, newsletters and announcements. Parents are welcome to visit office staff if they require assistance to upload the Compass app on their device.
During Term 1, we provide a ‘meet the teacher’ session to keep parents and carers informed about their child’s new class environment. We also provide parent/teacher conferences in Terms 2 and 4 following reports to update parents about their child’s educational progress.
There are many different areas for parent involvement in our school community. The McAuley school family has a proactive and successful parent body. Parents work in partnership with the teachers to ensure that children reach their full potential.
At McAuley we provide two main parent representative bodies: the School Advisory Council (SAC) and the Parents and Friend’s Association. Our SAC is a consultative body that works with the leadership team regarding future school initiatives. Our P&F Committee’s main function is to build community through:
- welcoming new families
- community events and celebrations
- parent information and education sessions
- fundraising for resources to support student learning
- parent spirituality/family Masses.
